Golfing in Spain? After the 1997 Ryder Cup was held at Valderrama (in the south of Spain near the Rock of Gibralter), more Americans are becoming aware of Spain's great golfing opportunities. Thousands of Europeans visit Spain every year to play golf. Yet most Americans travel only to sightsee, unaware of the great golf that awaits them. In addition, you will also have a chance to enjoy courses by Europe's famous designers never experienced at home!

Spain offers exquisite courses, magnificent weather, and a diverse memorable experience. Golf Links Ltd., in conjunction with Spanish Golf Adventures ®, is proud to offer personalized golfing packages to the finest courses and inspection programs that insure the highest level of satisfaction.

When selecting participating golf courses, they must be challenging from high to low handicappers alike. The course must also be well maintained. Of paramount importance is the friendliness and assistance of the staff, as well as the overall hospitality afforded visiting golfers. In each of these areas, Spanish courses excel! In fact, many are rated in Europe's top ten.

While playing in Spain, one will encounter golfers from around the world. Its temperate clime makes the lberian Peninsula the golf haven for Europe most all year long (except during summer, when the northern European courses are in full swing). In fact, many of the club pros are English, Scottish or Irish -- gone south for a nice sunny climate.

With so much to do and see in Spain, non-golfers won't feel left out. Golf Links Ltd. can arrange a variety of exciting options for those who do not wish to golf. Excursions such as a countryside tour, panoramic city tour, or a visit to the local markets can enhance your Spanish experience. Pampering spa packages are also available.

Portugal boasts magnificent weather, exquisite courses, fine dining, countless sightseeing attractions, and reasonable prices to make your golfing vacation a truly memorable experience. GolfLinks Ltd., in conjunction with Spanish Golf Adventures ®, offers personalized golfing packages to the finest Portuguese courses and hotels. Our ongoing visitation and inspection program insures the highest level of satisfaction.

In Portugal, just as in Spain, golfers will encounter players from around the world. Its temperate clime makes the lberian Peninsula the golf Mecca for Europe most all year long (except during summer, when the northern European courses are in full swing).

The language of golf is universal. Almost everyone in Portugal uses English terms when golfing and they have adopted the Royal and Ancient/US Golf Association rules. The major change to get used to is the use of meters instead of yards (hint: add 10% so 150 meters equates to 165 yards). Another difference is the color of the tee markers. White denotes the pro tee, gold is for normal handicappers, and red (as in the U.S.) is the ladies tee. For yardage markers and measuring distance to the green, distance is usually to the FRONT of the green; the RED post marks 150 meters (165 yards) and the yellow marks the 100 meter (110 yards) point. Be sure to bring your USGA handicap card to participate; many courses require it.
